Craig, the craftsman behind Bruce's Boxes, apprenticed under his late father Bruce for many years, works from his home based workshop in Launceston.
Despite having a modern workshop equipped with the latest woodworking tools, Craig believes nothing beats the finish achieved through traditional "elbow grease." All his timber products are hand-finished.
For Craig, achieving a smooth quality finish is as much about feel as it is about sight.
Craig selects only the finest grade materials from Tasmania for his boxes, ensuring each board is seasoned and ready for machining. He carefully thicknesses each board and meticulously color matches each component to create the perfect combination for each box.
Over the years, Craig has built strong relationships with a select group of respected millers and timber merchants in Tasmania, always ensuring his timber is sourced sustainably.
Bruce's Boxes are crafted from solid timber, offering a unique feel, smell, and look that glossy thin veneers simply cannot match.
- Each box features full-length piano hinges for attaching the lids to the bodies, along with a specially designed backrest for added stability and strength.
