Beautifully made by Craig, this Tasmanian Huon Pine Medium Jewel Box is a stunning gift for that special person, or occasion. It is lined with black suede and divided with internal ring fittings and compartments so you can easily find your special treasures.

Huon pine is a rain forest timber unique to Tasmania and due to an essential natural oil in the wood it has a unique one-of-a-kind smell which also makes it highly resistant to fungal and insect attack. Huon Pine ranges from almost white in colour to light cream and yellowish with fine and closely spaced annual growth rings, and sometimes small black "birds eye" markings.
The Huon Pine used in this product was recovered in a sustainable way from the Tasmanian forest floor under licence by the Tasmanian government and allocated to the company Millers. It is the remnant of the old piners of long ago, or natural death of the tree.
About the Maker: Craig, with many years of experience apprenticed under his late father Bruce, demonstrates his keen eye for Tasmanian woodcraft by lovingly hand finishing each box to perfection, all from his home-based Launceston workshop.
Whilst Craig has a modern workshop with all the newer woodworking tools, at the end of the day nothing beats the finish of good old fashioned 'elbow Grease'. In other words, the timber products are all hand finished. He believes gaining a quality finish is as much about feel as sight.
Craig knows his timbers and only purchases select grade material sourced in Tasmania for his boxes. The timbers arrive seasoned and ready to be machined to dimension. Craig thicknesses each board and then invests extra time to colour match each component to provide the best combination for each box.
Over the years Craig has built relationships with a small number of well-respected millers and timber merchants in Tasmania and always makes sure to source his timber sustainably.
Bruce's Boxes are fine solid timber products. Unlike glossy thin veneers there is no substitute for the feel, smell and look of real solid timber.
